JAKARTA, May 21 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian and Chinese governments have agreed to increase cooperation in the training of Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Sukhoi jet-fighter pilots, Antara news agency reported a Defence Ministry spokesman as saying Friday.

The training of the Indonesian Sukhoi jet fighters' pilots was one of the agenda items discussed between Gen Guo Boxing, deputy chairman of China's Central Commission of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), and Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro here on Friday.

The Defence Ministry spokesman, Maj Gen I Wayan Medhio, said Indonesia had in several stages sent its Sukhoi pilots to train in China.

China is one of the biggest operators of Sukhoi jet planes besides Russia and Ukraine, two states of former Soviet Union. China is now one of the countries trusted to produce Sukhoi planes.

China has a training centre for war-planes such as Sukhois including the SU-27 SK and SU30MK variants which are used by the TNI AU.

Several countries are users of Sukhois such as Indonesia, India, China, the Republic of Chech, Poland, Slovakia, Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Peru and North Korea.

This last statement is just stupid. Of that list only 4 of them actually use the Su-27 which I believe is the main point of the story and the others are either no longer actively using Sukhois (e.g. Germany) or are using antiquated-soon-to-be-retired types not relevant to the story!

Malaysian {Edit from: Indonesia} news services... Hi quality I don't think so. I wonder what Sukhoi would think about the unlicensed rip off of their IP being characterised as "trusted enough"....

BERNAMA is Malaysian news service and Germany never used Sukhoi 27's nor anything later, the latest one they had was the Mig29 all gone to Poland now bar the ones in a museum (or two?)

The "trusted enough......" is a gem is it not!

Hey Bug, I was referring to the German Su-22M4s which are no longer in frontline service with today's Luftwaffe. And Afghanistan?? Thats a joke! Whats left of their old Sukhois over there are rusting hulks if that... the Malaysians need to get their facts straight and work on past & present tenses while they are at it.
